Let Us Make: God’s Divine Desire Behind Human Creation

Hello, Bride of Christ,
Happy New Year!

We invite you to join us in a deeper exploration of God’s heart toward humanity. Together, we will turn to His Word to uncover answers to questions often lie buried within us—questions frequently drowned out by the cares and distractions of daily life:

  • Why were we created?

  • Were we given both a collective and an individual purpose?

  • Is our existence random, or left to chance?

  • What does God gain from creating humanity?

God’s Word could have started at any moment in history, yet He chose to take us back to the very beginning. He describes a world from a human perspective which appeared dark, empty, and void. But where others might have seen emptiness, God saw potential. He hovered over the chaos and spoke light into existence.

As creation unfolds, God reveals divine order and intentionality, ultimately guiding us to what He deemed the pinnacle of His creation: humanity. Unlike anything else He made, God declared humanity to be very good.

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1: 26-28, NKJV

Genesis 1:26–28 gives us our first glimpse into God’s heart and intent for humanity. In this passage, God expresses His desire to create humanity in His own image and likeness. He blesses them, establishes relationship, and entrusts them with stewardship and authority over the earth. From the beginning, humanity is both loved and commissioned—created with purpose, dignity, and responsibility (Genesis 1:26–28, NKJV).

From this passage, we see a divine progression:

Identity – Who we are in God
Relationship – Why He desired us
Responsibility – What He entrusted to us
Redemption – How He restores what was lost

This leads us to a profound question: What would change in our lives if we truly believed we are loved before we are useful?

Bride of Christ, God created humanity in His image, bestowing identity before assignment. His desire was not merely to form a workforce, but to cultivate relationships. From the very beginning, God focused on who we are before what we do. Let us take this month to document all the ways He shows us His love—simply because He does. Not based on merit. Not based on achievement.
